There are a number of Site Management Safety Training Schemes in operation around the country and they help managers or supervisors to ensure that health and safety is being adhered to whilst workers are on site. Delegates can attend the courses in block periods or they can take part in courses on a day release basis. On a typical Smsts the delegate will be taught about The Health and Safety at Work Act and all the relevant regulations which relate to workers who are on site. Specific topics that are covered on the course might include making risk assessments and providing method statements. The set up of the site will be a crucial part of the Smsts as will items like erecting scaffolding. Sections about electricity on site will be covered as will details on excavations and demolition. Normally the training is conducted on a classroom basis with presentations and videos about the relevant subject matter. Block bookings can be arranged for companies that have a number of site supervisors, or the courses can be attended by a sole representative from their company. At the end of the Smsts the delegates will be presented with a certificate to prove that they have attended all of the classes and have learnt a wealth of invaluable information.
